Unearth Life in a Historic Coal Town. $135 per person 4 hours+ Unearth Life in a Historic Coal Town. Take a step back to 1937 and the first day of a rookie coal miner in the untamed Drumheller Valley. Life was tough in the day when ‘Coal was King’ – and the Pit Bosses were even tougher. ‘Mine and Dine’ sets the stage at two historic sites – the Atlas Coal Mine and the East Coulee School Museum – for visitors to experience hands-on discovery and the unique opportunity to unearth the life of a coal miner in East Coulee, Alberta, located in the heart of the Canadian Badlands. Discover the area’s gritty mining culture first-hand…rub shoulders with real life miners and families, put on work clothes and handle real artefacts. Make your own miner's brass tag and gain a historic 'paycheck' for a day's work at the mine. After work, it’s time to unwind in this booming coal town and break bread with the locals and new friends, while savouring a hearty Hungarian family-style meal. This experience was featured at the Travel Alberta industry conference in 2017 and provides one of the most unique and memorable experiences in the Drumheller Valley!
